NZ Prime Minister Helen Clark Advising Businesses How To Operate
Here we go again…… This Government sheesh. This is the last straw, I intend to make my dis-satisfaction publicy known.
Helen is now officially off my Christmas List
(and probably just in time before she bans Christmas anyway)!
No fruit-basket for your birthday either Helen. I’m miffed.
After the much reported closure of a NZ Fisher & Paykel production plant, and a pressumed 350 job losses for next year I find the Prime Ministers comments a tad unsettling:
Helen Clark’s comments with regard to the closure were: “the way of the world” .
Clark failed to mention that Thailand has offered an extreme 8-year tax holiday for the Fisher & Paykel Plant.
Helen Clark, being of course well known for her achievements in business, and expertise in the private sector has offered this wise advice for businesses:
“The key for [New Zealand] is where the company is based, and where the high-value design R&D work is done, where it’s branded, where the export revenue comes.”
Yes, you heard right, the Prime Ministers advise essentially, is don’t expect any support from the Labour government or tears when you can’t afford to operate any longer in this country.
Perhaps another way to interpret the Prime Minister’s message would be to say any good production business that grows, will eventually out-grow New Zealand….
Or even another interpretation could be “Don’t expect any tax breaks if you’re a large business and employer of many”?
To bad, about the other production plants in New Zealand, I can only imagine this “advice”, will have more companies in this sector considering moving production overseas.
Just what this country needs with a huge trade deficit, less exports!
